WHERE I HOLD MY HYPNTHERAPY SESSIONS
Generally, my hypnotherapy sessions take place at Muswell Health (North London) and The Terapia Consultancy (Central London). But thanks to the power of Zoom I don’t just deliver hypnotherapy to stop smoking in London but throughout the UK.
In fact, many of my clients find remote hypnotherapy less stressful because they can enjoy the process from the comfort of their home.
FREQUENTY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT HYPNOTHERAPY
No, hypnotherapy is not currently available on the NHS. However, many private therapists offer this type of therapy. You can find a therapist in your area by searching online or asking around for recommendations.
Yes, hypnosis is considered to be a very safe form of therapy. It’s been used for centuries to help people achieve success in various areas of their lives.
However, it’s important to work with a hypnotherapist who is qualified and experienced. Not all therapists are trained in this type of therapy, so be sure to do your research before you choose someone. Also, remember that hypnosis works differently for everyone, and it’s no magic wand.
Generally, hypnosis is a safe process with few side effects. However, because it’s such a state of deep relaxation, you might feel tired or sleepy after your session. This is completely normal and usually goes away within a day or two.
Some people also experience changes in their moods after a session. For instance, you might feel more confident or happy. Changes are usually positive but if they become overwhelming for you emotionally, your therapist can help make adjustments.
There are many different hypnotherapy techniques used for promoting weight loss. Here are some of the most common:
Hypnotic Gastric Banding
This technique is based on Anthony William’s version of hypnotic gastric banding, where you visualize a surgical procedure that has taken place to create an imaginary “hypnotic stomach band.” This band helps to restrict the amount of food you can eat at any one time, which in turn causes you to lose weight.
The technique is often successful because it’s very visual and most people can easily imagine what the “band” looks like and how it feels on their stomach.
Behavioural Techniques
These techniques help you change your behaviour around food. For instance, a therapist might ask you to keep a food diary so that you can become more aware of what and how much you’re eating.
You might also be asked to set realistic weight loss goals and to make changes to your diet slowly rather than all at once. This helps to avoid feelings of deprivation, whereas setting unrealistic goals might lead to binge eating.
For those with severe obesity, you should also speak with your GP to identify underlying health conditions that might affect your success rate. Adverse reactions and negative side effects are uncommon with complementary therapies such as hypnotherapy.
Yes, hypnotherapy can help enhance weight loss and help you reach a healthy weight. The techniques used in hypnotherapy work by changing your thought patterns. Combined with a healthy diet and regular exercise, hypnotherapy can be an extremely effective tool to promote good health.
Many therapists will give you homework to complete between sessions, and some will even provide food plans outlying nutrition advice or exercises that can be done at home.
If your hypnotherapist doesn’t offer this type of support, don’t be afraid to ask for it! Hypnotherapy is effective because it takes into account all aspects of your life. We call this integrative medicine – so if there are parts of the process that you’re struggling with, be sure to let your therapist know. They can help you to overcome any challenges you might be facing.
Whether you are a regular public speaker or have a fear of public speaking, hypnotherapy can help restore your confidence. We would co-create an imaginary performance scenario that goes well for you. And by using hypnosis reinforce that experience to create a positive change and new behavioural pattern.
Studies have shown that hypnotherapy can help with anger issues in many ways. Getting to the root cause of your anger is key to solving it and this can be done with hypnotherapy.
Finding the best hypnotist near me for stopping smoking or any therapy is subjective. Many of my new clients come from referrals. Also, Google search can be helpful, such as: hypnosis for stopping smoking reviews.
When searching for the best hypnotist near me, you’ll find a lot of different types of therapists. Some, like me, are certified clinical hypnotherapists. My training is based on the work of David Newton. He’s considered one of the best hypnotherapists in the UK.
You’ll need to have access to Zoom for the initial virtual hypnotherapy session. If you’ve not heard of Zoom it’s similar to other online video services such as Skype or FaceTime. It’s really easy to set up and I can guide you through that process. Just make sure you’re in a comfortable place with a reliable internet connection and as little noise as possible. If you have children or dependents, maybe see if you can get someone to take care of them for you. Before your session you’ll receive an invitations link that will allow you to access the session. If you don’t have access to a computer, tablet or smartphone don’t worry, we can run the session by phone.
Depression and anxiety both come from the same primitive response mechanism. Whereas depression is more likely to invoke the freeze response, anxiety is the result of the flight response.
Hypnosis is effective for anxiety and depression. Depending on your goals, we may need to approach each one differently.
Anxiety comes from the primitive version of ourselves. It’s a response that can make us panic and want to escape from a situation. Hypnosis is good for anxiety because it’s a deep state of relaxation. In that state barriers are dropped, allowing new, positive ideas to form.
Have you been searching for hypnotherapy near me and wondering how to choose the best hypnotherapist in London? What I suggest is speaking with some people who’ve experienced hypnosis in London. It’s also important to consider your needs. Hypnosis near me will bring up lots of results. Some therapists focus on stop smoking hypnotherapy and are the best in London at that. Others like myself are more experienced in complex therapy such as trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression and confidence.
For many people, hypnosis is a very personal thing, some prefer to meet face to face instead of online.
I run hypnotherapy in London at two locations: Muswell Hill in North London and the other in Central London. But sometimes things in life get in the way, and time just disappears. So it’s possible to mix and match between online and in person.
Whatever way works best for you, is what works best for me.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy for performance anxiety is a gentle way to guide you towards your goals. Hypnosis works for performance anxiety like this. When a hypnotherapist induces a trance state we feel more relaxed. At the same time our attention is focused. It’s a state of mind that temporarily suspends the part of the brain that holds onto patterns of behaviour that it feels are working. While in a trance you’ll be able to experience the positive version of yourself which we’d previously explored in the first part of your session. Without the resistance part of your brain holding you back.
Having experienced a trance-like state with a professional hypnotherapist trains your neural pathways. That often means it’s easier for someone to move into a hypnotic state. You may have experienced this feeling before. Some people call this ‘being in the zone’ or the flow. Essentially this is the same experience as hypnosis. These mind tools, once practiced, become easier to slip into and out of. This helps us bypass any negative thoughts that may arise.
Self-hypnosis is also a great way to manage anticipatory anxiety as it builds up. Allowing yourself to focus on positive visualisation can heighten your general mood and confidence.
In my hypnotherapy for confidence in London sessions the goal is to help switch off your inner critic. Here’s how it works. When you’re in a trance-like state, it’s possible to override your negative thought patterns. Even if they are deep rooted. It works because the hypnotherapist connect with your unconscious mind. While you’re under hypnosis, allowing you to see yourself in a kinder light.
Hypnosis can also be used to focus on specific areas of confidence. Not just general self-esteem issues but areas like improving your work life or relationships. It can also help boost your confidence for major life events such as:
- Competitions
- Passing a test
- Standing up and giving a presentation
The speed and effectiveness really does change from person to person. It’s not unusual for some people to feel no benefit at all, but in my experience, that’s very rare. Some people leave the first session with a new outlook on life. For others, especially with depression or deep-rooted anxiety, seeing results can take a bit longer.
There are a number of different approaches to hypnotherapy in London. I practice what’s known as Solutions Focused Hypnotherapy. It’s a modern form of talking therapy created by David Newton. He’s one of the most highly regarded hypnotherapists in the world. His approach came at a time where traditional therapy practices were under scrutiny. Due to the high volume of clients (40/50 hypnotherapy sessions per week!) he quickly realised that enjoyable therapeutic sessions have a higher likelihood of success. His research also confirmed that self discovery is more impactful than being told what to change.
This is at the very heart of what I practice.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy has been used successfully for a variety of conditions including:
- Phobias & fears
- Anxiety
- Sleep disorders
- Depression
- Stress
- PTSD/Trauma
- Grief & Loss
Hypnosis works for these conditions because when in a trance state we feel more relaxed. It also focuses our attention. Hypnosis is a state of mind that temporarily suspends the part of the brain that holds onto patterns of behaviour that it feels are working. So you can experience the positive version of yourself which we’d previously explored in the first part of your session.
Hypnosis is also used for overcoming habits such as smoking or overeating.
You may be wondering if hypnotherapy in London is expensive. As with any therapy, the cost is subjective. However some therapists often cite a minimum number of sessions. My approach to Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is that you are in control of how many sessions feel right. We’ll continue until you feel the positive change has become more established. This is different for trauma as I practice the Muss Rewind Technique which is conducted over a single session (plus one follow up session).
I practice hypnotherapy in London and online via Zoom using a technique called Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. It has a different approach to treating psychological issues. Why? Because the key principle is to focus on setting future goals. This differs from other forms that bringing up trauma or problems from the past. For some people, revisiting those memories and experiences is just too painful. This results in them shutting down and becoming unresponsive to positive suggestions. Others simply are not aware of the reasons why they feel like they do. But if they’ve been searching for who is the best hypnotherapist London, then they’re likely to be seeking positive change.
Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy is popular in London because it’s a structured and gentle form of hypnosis. The past is considered a distraction. Instead, the hypnotherapist co-creates goals, building a pathway to the client’s solution. Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy is a very open method of hypnosis. In the sessions, we’ll discuss how the brain works, how we experience emotions, how they can affect us and our habits. As well as what can be done to change them. We’ll also cover what to expect from a hypnotic trance. A trance is actually a very normal, natural state and something that we may already experience throughout our day.
If you’re looking at choosing hypnosis as a method of treatment, I suggest getting in touch and talking through what you’d like to achieve. You can contact me on 07966 464 005
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) combines psychotherapy with hypnosis. It’s a talking therapy. We start by understand the goal (solution) as opposed to digging into the past. After talking things through the client is put into a very natural, relaxing state (trance) using guided relaxation. From here positive change can be comfortably launched and then reinforced.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) focuses on the present and the future, not the past. It’s about helping people move forward with their lives and not dwelling on the past. SFH follows a set structure and starts with asking the client to consider their preferred future. This gives the client a goal to focus on. The therapist also provides an explanation of how the brain works. This is followed by hypnosis.
